Two Gloucester men arrested on burglary charges

The Gloucester Sheriff’s Office has charged two men in connection with a series of residential burglaries and larcenies that occurred from early November to mid December 2015. Most of the burglaries occurred during the day while the residents were at work.

Arrested were James Stephen Massengill, 33, of Hayes, and Johnny Travis Horsley, 27, of Gloucester. Massengill was charged with four counts of breaking and entering and four counts of grand larceny. Horsley was charged with one count of breaking and entering and two counts of grand larceny.

GSO Capt. John Schick Jr. said the rash of daytime burglaries and larcenies led to an increased police presence in the affected areas, especially Coke and Bena. He said the entire GSO investigations division was working the cases exclusively for about two weeks, ultimately developing leads that led to the arrests. ...
