Two from GHS qualify for state swim meet

Gloucester High School junior Jax Knott and freshman Livvie Cohn advanced to the Group 5A Swim Meet based on their performances in last week’s 5A South Regional championships. 

This is the second trip to the state-level meet for Knott, who was the first GHS swimmer to qualify last year. It marks the first time more than one GHS swimmer has qualified. The top 10 individual swimmers in each regional event advance to the state meet. 

Cohn was ninth in the 200 freestyle at the regional meet with a time of 2:01.82 and tenth in the 500 freestyle in 5:23.69, setting a new GHS record in both events.

Knott was sixth in the 50 freestyle in 25.00 and tenth in the 100 freestyle in 45.62, also setting new GHS records in both events. 

The girls leave Friday for the state meet, which begins at 7 a.m. Saturday in the George Mason University aquatics center. ...
