Two brothers take center stage at Saturday’s Alzheimer’s walk

Two brothers are taking center stage at Saturday’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s on the Middle Peninsula at Botetourt Elementary School.

Paul Sharp, 73, of Gloucester, is the 2013 Honorary Chairman of the walk, and he will be accompanied by his brother and "care partner," Jim Sharp. They will be on hand for check-in at 9 a.m., a short program at 9:30, and the walk, which begins at 10. Their four brothers and two sisters will join them, as well.

There will be a one-mile and three-mile course, both through Gloucester Court House. There is no fee to join the walk, but to be eligible for an event T-shirt, participants must raise $100 each. All proceeds will go to the Alzheimer’s Association, with 81 percent being spent on research, education, support and respite scholarships for those with Alzheimer’s disease and their families.
