Kathi’s Clam Chowder of Mathews will be holding a drawing during Yorktown Market Days on Saturday, Sept. 10 (First Responder Day), with a winner taking home this 4’x6’ wooden Betsy Ross flag. There is no purchase necessary; Kathi’s Clam Chowder is asking for a $5 donation which will go to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation (T2T.org), which provides mortgage-free homes to Gold Star and fallen first responder families with young children and building custom-designed smart homes for catastrophically injured veterans and first responders. Kathi’s Clam Chowder will be at the event from 8 a.m. to noon, with the drawing held at 11:45 a.m. The winner need not be present; the wooden flag will be delivered to Mathews, Gloucester, King and Queen, York or James City counties if necessary. Also, Kathi’s Clam Chowder will donate a portion of all chowder sales that day to Tunnel to Towers.
