Triathlon winner

Jacob Capin, above, the son of John and Peggy Capin of Gloucester, was the winner of Naylor’s Beach Olympic Triathlon, which was held Sunday in Warsaw. Capin is working on his Ph.D. in physical therapy at the University of Delaware. He and 52 others swam 1,500 meters, biked 40K, and ran 10K. He finished well ahead of the others, and was exciting to watch. He has trained long and hard and often placed, but this was his first win. In addition, two Mathews County residents and a third with local connections, below, placed Sunday in the Naylor’s Beach triathlon. Craig Ciszewski of Mathews, left, placed third for his age group in the Olympic Triathlon, 45-49; Gene White of Richmond, center, father of Jay White of Richmond, stood alone on the podium for the 80-84 age group in the Sprint Triathlon (swim 500M, bike 1500K, run 5K); and Doug Parades of Mathews, right, was second in the Olympic in his age group, 50-54. ...
