Mobjack rowers must have felt like they had rowed through a time warp last week. As they approached Williams Wharf on the final piece of the day’s practice last Tuesday, the Godspeed, replica of a 17th century sailing ship, appeared in the distance. The vessel’s crew, on the way back to Jamestown from an educational program at Yankee Point Marina in Lancaster County, had requested permission to lay over for the night. Upon tying up, the crew fired a ceremonial cannon shot to greet those on the river. The vessel will return to local waters on Nov. 5 and 6 for the 53rd annual Urbanna Oyster Festival.
