Time Walk, a shop selling games, toys and hobby items, opened for business on Feb. 1 at Gloucester Point Shopping Center. A grand opening celebration is planned for Saturday, March 16.
The grand opening, which will be held from noon-5 p.m., will include free hot dogs and popcorn and a drawing for a circus train set, owner Roc Phillips said. The event will include a bounce house for children and a Magic the Gathering tournament.
Time Walk is a store that buys, sells and trades toy and hobby items, including some vintage toys. The shop features a lot of model kits, such as airplanes, boats and motorcycles, with a line of accessories and paints.
There’s a selection of new and used railroad cars and track. Also, a selection of toys is for sale, along with rocket kits.
Phillips said he has a lot of Magic the Gathering cards, play mats and accessories. He plans to hold Magic tournaments at the shop, which has a showroom and a gaming room in the back.
Soon, Phillips said he plans to add an assortment of sports cards, and already has some sports card accessories available. He also plans to start a model rocket club.
This is the first business owned by Phillips. His parents, Marcia and David Mickle of Achilles, are other owners of the store.
Phillips previously served four years in the U.S. Air Force, with his highest rank staff sergeant. His mother was a sergeant in the U.S. Army, while his father served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years.
Phillips’s wife, Amber, owns Prior Attire, a clothing shop located at Gloucester Point Shopping Center. They have two children: daughter Lalanie, 7, a second grader at Bethel Elementary School, and son River, eight months old. The couple resides at Gloucester Court House.
