Tower goes up

The second of Mathews County’s two American Rescue Plan Act-funded telecommunications towers was delivered last Thursday and stacked at the Mathews Volunteer Rescue Squad building on Cricket Hill Road. Once all inspections are completed, the county will be able to issue requests for proposals from potential broadband and cell carriers seeking to put equipment on the tower. Shown above during the delivery process are, from left, Mathews Broadband Advisory Board Chair Judy Rowe, David Rhodes of E.L. Mueller Construction, and advisory board member Willie Love. On right, the first section of the tower in place.
