Tourism roundtables continue

Roundtable meetings sponsored by the Mathews County Economic Development Authority to discuss Mathews County’s tourism assets, opportunities, and priorities, continue this week and next. Public participation is sought “to shape the future of tourism in Mathews County,” a notice said. The first of six roundtable discussions met Tuesday to discuss the county’s tourism assets, priorities, and opportunities, as well as its shortcomings. This first group consisted of Mathews County’s “lodging demographic,” said a release. “This afternoon’s proceedings far exceeded my expectations,” said EDA chair Joe Syslo, who added that “the participants offered, smart, innovative, imaginative ideas and substantive recommendations that will certainly be part of the final report to the Mathews Board of Supervisors. “I anticipate that the following sessions will be as rewarding,” he concluded.
