Tour de Chesapeake rides again in Mathews

Mathews County, the Mathews County Visitor and Information Center and the Mathews Land Conservancy are teaming up to host Saturday’s 18th annual Tour de Chesapeake.

The event welcomes bicyclists from around the state and beyond for a weekend of “flat scenic cycling, delicious local eats, toe-tapping music, and nice, down-home folks to help with whatever is needed,” according to event director Lynda Smith Greve.

The tour is presented by Riverside Walter Reed Hospital, as well as Diana Burton of IsaBell K. Horsley Real Estate, Chesapeake Bank, and the Mathews Economic Development Authority. “We couldn’t do this event without these wonderful sponsors who believe in providing healthy, affordable activities for the whole family to enjoy,” Greve said.

The county will welcome cyclists on Friday evening for check-in and registration at Thomas Hunter Middle School. Entertainment will be provided by David Shuber and vendors will be on site for shopping. Hom...
