Mathews County, the Mathews County Visitor and Information Center and Mathews Land Conservancy are teaming up to host this weekend’s 23rd annual Tour de Chesapeake cycling event.
Registration begins Friday evening, with cyclists taking to the road Saturday morning for the main event. Participants are encouraged to explore the county on their own on Sunday.
The event will welcome cyclists from around the state and beyond for a weekend of “flat scenic cycling, delicious local eats, toe-tapping music, and nice, down-home folks to help with whatever is needed,” a release stated.
This year’s tour is presented by Bernadette La Casse of Burton’s Waterfront/Isabell K. Horsley Real Estate, Chesapeake Bank, Mathews Economic Development Authority, and Riverside Walter Reed Hospital.
“We couldn’t do this event without these wonderful sponsors who believe in providing healthy, affordable activities for the whole family to enjoy,” event director Lynda Smith Greve said.
