Tornados strike Warner, Deltaville

Middlesex County had two tornados touch down during the storm on Saturday.

The first tornado struck at 6:30 p.m. in Warner, said Middlesex County’s deputy emergency services coordinator Betty Muncy. At least five homes were affected there, and it was also the site of the one injury in the county that resulted from the storm. A mobile home "was pretty much blown up," said Muncy, and a person was thrown out and sustained critical injuries. As of Tuesday morning, that person’s condition was improving, she said.

The second tornado struck Deltaville at 7:30 p.m., said Muncy.

The two tornadoes together damaged 100 residences, two churches, and one community center, said Muncy. Of the residences hit, 32 were destroyed, including five mobile homes, while 26 sustained major damage, 38 had minor damage, and 11 were "affected" (missing shingles, some broken windows, etc.).
