Top Cop: Gloucester deputy wins regional award

Gloucester Sheriff’s Deputy Jon Holt was expecting to receive his agency’s Top Cop Award from the Greater Hampton Roads Regional Crime Lines representatives Tuesday, but he did not expect the visitors to present him with their overall regional Top Cop Award.

Tuesday marked the first time that the regional Top Cop Award was presented to a member of the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office, and according to presenter Cathy Richards, the 2020 Top Cop chairwoman, Holt was a well-deserving recipient of the region’s top law enforcement honor.

The Greater Hampton Roads Regional Crimes Lines serve Chesapeake, Hampton, James City County, Newport News, Norfolk, Poquoson, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Virginia Beach, Williamsburg, York, Gloucester, Isle of Wight, Smithfield and Windsor.
