Tompkins Cottage sign

The Mathews County Historical Society recently invited the Mathews County Board of Supervisors and county staff to a reception and the dedication of the Tompkins Cottage Museum’s new interpretive sign. An open house allowed guests to tour the cottage with docents and to view the repairs that have been made to the building’s exterior. Flanking the new sign are, from left, Steve Pope, Tim Tillage of the county building department, MCHS president Reed Lawson, Glen Scatchard of the county building department, Diana Swenson, Terri Hyman, Martha McCartney, Bobbi Hatton, Liz Bateman, Ray Stubblebine, Hunt Thompson and Trish Reed. Building official Kevin Zoll was in attendance but not present when the photograph was taken.
