The Tidewater Oyster Gardener Association will present “Gardening Chesapeake Bay Oysters in Virginia” from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the Deltaville Maritime Museum, 287 Jackson Creek Road. Speakers will lay out the ecological background of the Chesapeake Bay and its watershed, biological facts, history of oysters, and basics of siting, permitting, establishing and maintaining an oyster garden in various cages and float devices. Health and safety will be discussed with pertinent regulations pertaining to temporary, seasonal and permanent closures to harvesting and consumption, a release said. TOGA members and Master Oyster Gardeners will discuss and demonstrate the varied choices of oyster aquaculture devices for different types of sites on creeks, rivers, and bayfront gardens.
