Katie Benick of Virginia Beach, was recently hired as director of performance services at Tidewater Performance in Gloucester. She also directs the company’s similar center in Newport News.

Benick said she will oversee performance coaches at both centers, assisting with training, and helping to market the company.

At Tidewater Performance, Benick said the focus is on sports performance and fitness management. The center emphasizes personal training and small group training. All programs are trainer-led, she added, and the center does not operate as an open gym.

“Our main focus is to produce a really high quality of movement,” Benick said, as the trainers build the client from the ground up. “We teach the fundamentals and then improve upon those,” she added.
