Three shoreline projects win wetlands board approval

The Gloucester County Wetlands Board unanimously approved three shoreline improvement projects during a meeting Sept. 9 in the colonial courthouse.

Linda Walthall, environmental programs coordinator for the Gloucester Environmental Programs Office, said that the board authorized Thomas B. Hudgins to construct 180 linear feet of new vinyl bulkhead aligned a maximum of 2 feet channelward of the existing timber bulkhead.

The board noted, Walthall said in a report, that the proposed vinyl bulkhead was a continuation of bulkhead. The project is located on the Northeast Branch of Sarah Creek at 8619 Little England Road.

Following a separate public hearing, the board approved the application of Dan Ray. He sought permission to construct 68 linear feet of rock revetment, 45 linear feet of rock sill and 50 cubic yards of sand nourishment with spartina plantings.
