Three homes on local garden tour

Three homes in Gloucester and Mathews counties will be open to visitors on Saturday as part of Historic Garden Week in Virginia. Ware Episcopal Church is tour headquarters. Tour attractions are The River House, home of Brownie and Ted Bartley at Schley; the home of Brent and Becky Heath on Daffodil Lane at the entrance to Ware Neck; and Sweetwater on the North River at Cardinal, home of Andrew and Sherry Curtis.

Tour hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; tickets are $30, available at Ware and at each of the homes.

The Garden Club of Virginia has put on Garden Week for more than 80 years, and in nearly every year since then, the Garden Club of Gloucester has taken part. Julie Stone is chair of the local tour, and Nina Watkins is co-chair.
