Three Gloucester High School softball players and coach David "Red" Lindsay received All Eastern Region honors following last week’s Group AAA Eastern Region Softball Tournament.
Junior shortstop Hannah Joyce was voted to the All Region First Team and sophomore pitcher Makayla Jenkins and senior outfielder Jillian Everett were voted to the Second Team. Lindsay was named the Eastern Region Softball Coach of the Year.
Joyce, who was previously named the Peninsula District Player of the Year, had a monster season with 55 hits, a second all-time high for a season, and scored 51 runs, an all-time high in a season. She was also the first Gloucester player to reach 100 hits and 100 RBIs as a junior. Joyce had a .518 batting average for the season with 17 extra base hits and 32 RBIs.
Jenkins, a hard-throwing left-hander, went 20-2 for the 22-2 Dukes. She had an ERA of 0.67 and struck out 157 batters in just over 135 innings pitched. She also had six no hitters, includin...
