Three GHS indoor track athletes advance to state

The Gloucester High School indoor track team will be sending three student athletes to the VHSL state meet following their performances at Monday’s Region 5A meet. Coach John Perrin said that the boys’ and girls’ teams placed fifth overall, respectively.

Junior Tanner Baker was crowned regional champion in the 3,200-meter run and second place the 1,600-meter. Baker set a personal record in the 3,200-meter with a time of 10:13.06.

Freshman Mya Baker placed third in both the 3,200-meter and the 1,600-meter. Perrin said that Baker set a personal record in the 1,600-meter with a time of 5:52.05.

Freshman Jahdai Donald also finished third in shotput with a distance of 24’9.5”.

The three will compete at states which will be held on March 1-3 at Virginia Beach.
