Three GHS boats first at Occoquan

Members of the Gloucester High School crew had good performances at the Al Urquia Regatta in Occoquan on Saturday. The Dukes entered eight events and placed in four, with three boats garnering first-place awards. 

For the boys, the novice four ‘A’ boat rowers Zane Musick-Williams, Jacob Dietz, Ethan Schacht, Conner Pham with coxswain Savannah Rose won their final, finishing 20 seconds ahead of the second-place boat. Junior four rowers James Raha, Hunter Emanus, Gage Holland and Titus Fox, with coxswain Jayden Jones, also won their event. 

John Cooper and Chase Holland placed first in their varsity doubles heat and were third in the final in 5:39. Russell Simpson was second in his singles heat in 6:08 and went on to finish fourth out of six in the finals.  The boys’ novice four ‘B’ boat was sixth overall in its race and Joe Lineberry and Mitchell Moore were fourth in their heat in the varsity doubles.
