THOMAS EARL DAME JR.

Thomas Earl Dame Jr. of Gloucester, born Oct. 27, 1927, died April 9, 2016 surrounded by his loving family.

Tommy graduated from Achilles High School and served in the Army Air Force. Tommy was an active member of Severn Church, an Elder, Sunday School teacher, sang in the church choir, and preached whenever needed. He was owner and operator of Dame’s Electrical and Plumbing business, and retired from Gloucester County as Electrical Inspector. He was a member of Duck’s Unlimited and American Legion Post 75, Gloucester.

Tommy was a kind, quiet man and a lover of sports, fishing, reading and puzzles. Many will remember the Christmas tree lighting service he and Elsie hosted for the county at their home for 12 years. Tommy and Elsie were grand marshals in the 2014 Gloucester Christmas Parade.

He was preceded in death by parents, Thomas E. and Rose Hogge Dame; brother, Ray Dame; sisters, Delta, Maxine, Esther and Peggy, and great-grandson, Noah Huggett.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 69 years, Elsie; daughters, Dottie (Corky) and Theresa (Gerald); sons, Michael (Kaye), Keith (Cheryl), Kevin (Susan), Brad, and Doug (Brinda); sister, Estelle Bruno; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews and many loving friends.

Funeral service conducted by the Rev. Bill West was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at Severn Church. Interment followed in the church cemetery. The family greeted friends prior to the service on Wednesday from 12:30-1:30 at the church.
