This year’s May Faire to honor teachers

Mathews County and the Mathews Historical Museum are gearing up to welcome visitors and residents at May Faire, on Saturday, May 6.

On that day, rain or shine, a majority of Mathews restaurants will be offering discount coupons for meals, one lucky attendee will win $100 in a drawing, a pound cake contest will produce a winner, all as the county celebrates its teachers.

This year’s theme is “Celebrating Teachers, Schools & Community: Over A Hundred Years of Public Education in Mathews County.” At opening ceremonies and throughout the morning, elementary school music students of Scott Eno and middle school students of Michael Loveless will showcase their talents. In the afternoon, local musician Michael Gregg will take the stage, as well as other music talent.
