They’re here! Vine-ripe strawberries are ready to pick

It’s one of the country’s most popular spring fruits that survived the winter by being covered with straw. The strawberries have pushed the straw aside with heads held high, proudly supporting light green berries. Now they are ripening, and it’s time for picking them. Wild strawberries have been enjoyed since ancient times. It is the crossing of these berries that has created the big juicy ones of today.
