Theresa Dale Jenkins, 54, of Hayes, died Saturday, June 23, 2018. Theresa passed peacefully and the angels carried her to her forever home.

 She was a graduate of Gloucester High School and had attended Thomas Nelson Community College. She was kind, loving and always willing to help someone in need and especially loved children. She loved to bake and share her cakes and pies with family and friends. She was a true animal lover at heart, and any strays at her door were never turned away and she would care for them, cats being her favorite.

Theresa will be remembered for being a selfless and loving wife and mother who kept smiling even when times were tough, keeping faith, and looking to the future.

She is survived by her husband, Ben Shackelford; son, James Shackelford; father, Kenneth Jenkins; brother, Kenneth Jenkins Jr.; sisters, Tina Harris, Kimberly Jenkins and Heather Jenkins; mother, Rosa Goff, and a host of aunts and uncles, including special aunts, Dianna “Granny Di” Mitchem and Sheryl Brown.

A funeral service conducted by the Rev. Richard Whiteheart will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 28, 2018, at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. Interment will follow in Rosewell Memorial Garden Cemetery. The family received friends Wednesday, June 27, 2018, from 6-7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
