THELMA ‘NANNIE’ BLAKE BELVIN

Thelma “Nannie” Blake Belvin of Gloucester Point, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2017, at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was 100 years old.

Thelma was born on March 14, 1917 in Newport News, Virginia. She was the daughter of Thomas Russell and Ethel Hogg Blake, and the fifth of 12 children, all of whom preceded her in death. She married the love of her life, James Bernard Belvin, who also preceded her in death after 64 years of marriage.

Thelma loved taking care of children, caring for the elderly, and playing Bingo. She was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her three children, Charles Belvin (Joyce), Barbara Jean Dunston (Mitchell), and James Randolph Belvin (Della); six grandchildren, Carlette Hunt (Bill), Bernard Belvin, Michael Dunston (Bev), Cheryl Dunston Miller, Stephanie Belvin Basta, and Randy Belvin; and three great-grandchildren, Candice Miller Uncles (Matt), Travis Miller, and Jillianne Belvin.

The family received friends Friday, Dec. 29, 2017, from 2-3 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point, followed by funeral service at 3 o’clock conducted by the Rev. Bill West. Interment followed in Gloucester Point Cemetery.
