The Peggy takes part in Summertime Buyboat Tour

 

With her American flag flying high, the Peggy of New Point, the Mathews Maritime Foundation’s flagship vessel, embarked on her first official tour last Thursday, heading to Cape Charles to be part of the annual Summertime Buyboat Tour.

From Cape Charles, the Peggy traveled to Tangier Island and then to Solomons Island, St. Michaels and Crisfield, Md., and is expected to return home to Mathews on Monday.

Mathews waterman Kerry Hall and avid seafarer Bob Gammisch are the crew members seeing that the Peggy is guided safely to her destinations.

According to MMF spokesperson George Pongonis, all of the boats came together at Cape Charles and worked their way north in the Chesapeake Bay toward Tangier and the stops in Maryland.
