‘The Backstory of Bats’ at Brent and Becky’s Saturday

Shirley Tinker, a master naturalist, will talk about “The Backstory of Bats” at a free family program at 10 a.m. Saturday at Brent and Becky’s Bulbs, Gloucester.

She will talk about bat myths, how they live and what they eat, why bats are important, bat monitoring, and endangered bats.

In another program, Okie Sidehamer will teach about creation of “Half Kokedama” at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, at the company. This traditional Japanese moss ball will include a watering hole. The cost is $35; reserve a space by calling 804-693-3966.

The company will have a program, “Forcing Bulbs for Holiday Blooms” at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 20. The only charge is for materials which can be purchased on site. Register by calling 804-693-3966. Also that day, River Organics of Gloucester will provide CBD wine samples and talk about the product made in the county. The class is $5 with proceeds benefiting the Gloucester Mathews Care Clinic.
