I am thankful for America’s “Greatest Generation”: our WWII veterans.

I am a lover of history and times past, but I didn’t become very interested in the WWII era until a few years ago when I took it upon myself to learn more about it.

Now, I have a small collection of books and films about or set during that period—even a postcard! Yet, all those things are not compared to have actually been there; I envy anyone who lived through it, and importantly, fought in it.

I have never actually met and talked with a WWII veteran, but if I were to I would simply say, “Thank you for your service.”

I think it is important for young people like myself to know more about America’s history and know about the many brave men and women who have helped shaped our country.
