Test today for Gloucester’s CodeRED notification system

Gloucester’s emergency management department will conduct a countywide test of its CodeRED Emergency Notification System today. Residents will begin receiving calls at approximately 3 p.m. and calls will continue until the entire database has been contacted.

The purpose of this test call is to allow emergency management personnel to test the system in the event of a disaster or emergency and to bring awareness to the use of the CodeRED for the delivery of important messages to the entire county or select geographic areas. Callers will receive a test message and instructions on how to add additional contact information to CodeRED via the county website.

Creig Moore, Gloucester’s emergency management coordinator, recommends everyone consider registering for and opting into the CodeRED and Weather Warning system.
