Gloucester High School varsity softball team shortstop Tessa Carteret has accepted a scholarship to play for George Mason University. In three years, the rising senior has received all-district, all-region and all-state honors and recorded over 100 career hits and RBIs. Carteret hit .304 during her junior season, while driving in 28 RBIs and scoring 31 runs. She also recorded five doubles, two triples and three home runs. George Mason is a Division I school and competes in the Atlantic 10 Conference. In 2026, GMU was 26-25 overall and 10-14 in conference play. The Patriots are coached by Justin Walker. “Coach [Jason] Burns and I are so happy for Tessa and so proud of her effort in the classroom, as well as on the softball field,” said head coach David “Red” Lindsay. “She has really worked hard for this opportunity.”...
