Telephone line reaches Diggs Wharf

120 YEARS AGOThursday, April 12, 1906from the Mathews Journal The Tidewater Telephone Company is extending its lines, and Mr. Miller is at work today putting up wires from the main line to Diggs Wharf. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hudgins of Diggs gave a party to the little children last Thursday evening in honor of their daughter’s fourth birthday. Capt. W.B. Diggs returned to Hamilton, N.C., last week to resume his duties on the U.S.S. Roanoke, after being home three weeks sick with the pleurisy. The fishermen of Diggs were all smiles Monday.
