Teachers, staff welcomed back at Gloucester schools

Gloucester County Public Schools welcomed its professional staff to the 2018-2019 academic year Monday morning with a continental breakfast and an opening convocation at Gloucester High School.

Gloucester School Board vice chairman Jarret Lee welcomed the teachers, calling them “a group of superheroes,” and thanked them for all that they do for their students.

Gloucester Board of Supervisors’ chairman Chris Hutson also greeted the teachers on behalf of his board. “We’re trying to support you all as best we can,” Hutson said. “We are here backing you up.”

Sharon Carino, the school division’s teacher of the year for 2017-2018, also addressed the audience and the many changes in the division for 2018-2019. Carino said change meant to “adjust, transform and innovate.”
