Teachers of the Year honored in Mathews

The Mathews County School Board paid tribute to the best of the best on Tuesday night, recognizing the division’s 2013-2014 Teachers of the Year.

One teacher was recognized from each of the county’s three schools—physical education teacher Pat Moughon from Lee-Jackson Elementary School, special education instructor Samantha Rozakis from Thomas Hunter Middle School, and Mathews High School math teacher Charles Seidl.

“We’re talking about some great, great educators,” assistant superintendent Nancy Welch said as she announced the names of the teachers who were selected by their peers.

“He’s just a phenomenal worker,” well respected by everyone at the school and one of the reasons that Mathews High School students have performed so well on standardized tests, principal Albert Green said as he introduced Seidl.
