Taylor to receive liver donation from former student

This morning, Meaghan Koehler of Urbanna is scheduled to donate a portion of her liver to Tiffany Taylor of Hayes in a surgery at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. Taylor has suffered from sclerosing cholangitis, a rare autoimmune disorder that causes inflammation, scarring and the destruction of bile ducts inside and outside of the liver, for over 10 years. “I’ve known for two years now I needed a liver,” said Taylor. “I finally decided to ask.” In the March 19 issue of the Gloucester-Mathews Gazette-Journal, Taylor reached out to the public in an article to find a suitable living donor. “I had actually seen that article,” said Koehler. While reading the article, Koehler realized she knew Taylor from nursing school.
