Taylor continues hot start as Dukes down Warriors

The Gloucester High School varsity baseball team’s undefeated train kept rolling last Thursday, as the Dukes travelled to Kecoughtan and took care of the Warriors, 6-0. Blake Taylor pitched a gem, throwing 83 pitches across seven innings in a complete game shutout that saw him allow only two hits.

As was the case in their first matchup with Kecoughtan, the Dukes would jump out to an early lead they would not relinquish. Gloucester platee a run in the second inning and, though they would add five more, that’s all Blake Taylor needed.

Taylor held his opponents to an on-base percentage of .208 in the contest and fanned six, though he did struggle at times with control and walked three Warriors. On the home side, while the Kecoughtan pitching staff recorded a collective 11 Ks, a pair of defensive errors didn’t help their cause.
