Virginia’s Li’l Ole Opry will hold a Talent Search Extravaganza, the only one planned this year, on Saturday night at Mathews High School’s Harry M. Ward Auditorium. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the show starts at 8.
The first half of Saturday’s show will feature the house band, Shades of Country, and all of the other Opry regulars. In the second half, contestants will perform songs that they have chosen and rehearsed with the band for a chance to win the trophy as the 2017 Talent Search Champion.
“We have a wonderful lineup of performers for this show,” Opry manager Lynda Smith said. “It always amazes me to see how much talent there is in this area.”
Contestants range in age from 8 years old and up. Some performers are new to the stage, while others are veterans.
