Take a journey into the meaning of Christmas with 2018 Advent book

The fifth Advent book from Gwynn’s Island Baptist Church is now available, this year’s volume taking the theme “Christmas Journeys.”

Pastor Ed Jordan said the booklet contains stories written locally by members and friends of Gwynn’s Island Baptist Church. Copies are free, and this year 1,800 copies are available, he said.

Jordan said the stories are written with the goal “of helping the reader ‘get into the mood for Christmas.’”

This year’s cover art of Joseph and Mary journeying to Bethlehem, is painted by acclaimed watercolor artist Gib Pulley of the Island. Writers range from 13 years old to people in their 70s, all of whom share their personal thoughts or stories of Christmas journeys.

Each booklet has 25 brief, daily stories on a theme, geared to help the reader focus upon the Christmas event, Jordan said. It can be used at the dinner table, or as bedside reading, or elsewhere. The content of the booklet will be avai...
