Tailgate Hamfest

The Middle Peninsula Amateur Radio Club will hold its second annual Tailgate Hamfest on Saturday, May 7, at the Abingdon Ruritan Club event field, 8784 Guinea Road, Hayes. Parking will be assisted by Ruritan Club members with the event running from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Hopefully, this will encourage ham radio enthusiasts in the area to continue “spring cleaning” their ham shacks and enjoy meeting out of doors in person now that the Covid problem seems to be lessening, said David Justis (shown above). The public is also invited to stop by to learn about local club activities and ham radio. Club president Alan Lambert and Dean Marzocca will officiate this event. At such events, one is likely to find used electronic and computer equipment, hard-to-find antique parts with some old tube radios just begging to be restored.
