TABB HUDGINS

Tabb Hudgins passed away March 22, 2013 after a long battle with serious health problems.

Tabb was born in Mathews County Aug. 2, 1932, and remained a Mathews resident all of his life. He attended Lynchburg College, and spent two years in the U.S. Army Combat Engineers during the Korean War.

He was a lifelong member of Bethel United Methodist Church, and a member of the American Legion Post 83 for over 50 years. He served two terms as Commander and was heavily involved in the building of the current Post home.

Tabb was a representative of Union Life, Interest Life, Gulf Life and AIG insurance companies serving Mathews, Gloucester, York, Newport News and Williamsburg, retiring in 1987 after 31 years of service.

He was a faithful supporter of several charities and enjoyed sharing his large garden with friends and those in need. Tabb was an ardent fisherman, and enjoyed helping solve the world’s problems over coffee with his friends at J.R.’s and Hardee’s!

He is survived by his loving wife and partner, Joyce, and niece, Brenda Payne of Lanexa, Va., along with a number of cousins living around the state. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Janie Dell Callis Hudgins.

The family received friends on Sunday, March 24, 6-8:30 p.m. at Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews. Funeral services were conducted Monday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel and burial followed in St. Paul Annex Cemetery, Susan.
