T.C. Walker protest

About 55 children and parents protested the closing of T.C. Walker Elementary School with a demonstration at the Gloucester public schools administration offices last Thursday. The demonstrators included 5-year-old Addison Baughan (inset) who would have attended the school next fall. The county school board voted March 13 to close the elementary program at Walker. Two days later, a Walker PTA petition objecting to the closure arrived at the office of Gloucester Administrator Brenda Garton with 1,231 signatures. The school board has not indicated that it will reconsider the closure. Photo by Kim Robins.
