Sweet Mary’s Sweets and Savories, a new business on Twigg Ferry Road in Cobbs Creek, had a soft opening this past Saturday, selling out everything owner Mary Pair had baked in three hours.

On Monday, Pair had only a few decorated cookies, four chocolate eclairs (her specialty), and one Death by Chocolate trifle on hand. But she plans on starting again, baking those and other items such as tarts and cakes, adding items as she sees what customers want.

Baked goods aren’t the only things that Pair plans to offer. She’ll also make pre-ordered box lunches for groups, providing for them such items as her homemade chicken salad and pimento cheese. She’s also ready to take catering orders.

Sweet Mary’s will be open just two half-days a week for now, said Pair, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday and 1-5 p.m. on Friday, but she’ll take orders anytime by phone and meet customers on-site as needed.
