Sweet Madeleine’s celebrates 20 years in business

Sweet Madeleine’s at Hayes is celebrating 20 years of business next week. Owner Angela Harder said the best part about being in business has been the relationships she has established with all of her customers and said the business has truly helped her become a part of the community.

Harder said she moved to Gloucester from Washington, D.C., and immediately noticed a need for a “unique” restaurant at that time in the county. She said at Sweet Madeleine’s, everything is made from scratch, from the salad dressing to the soups to the desserts. 

She said the restaurant originally opened in the 17 Plaza Shopping Center at Ordinary, and later moved to the corner of Tidemill Road and Route 17. Harder said the restaurant has been at its current location in the York River Crossing Shopping Center since 2015.
