The new Mathews County superintendent of schools, Dr. David S. Daniel, was officially sworn in during a ceremony last Thursday afternoon in Mathews Circuit Court. Clerk of Courts Angie Ingram performed the ceremony. Daniel was appointed by the Mathews County School Board at its June 20 meeting; he will take over from current superintendent Nancy Welch, who is retiring, on July 1.
