Abingdon Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad volunteers Matt Clark and B.J. McDaniel work to extinguish this blaze on a vehicle adjacent to an abandoned camper on Line Fence Road at Hayes around 2:30 p.m. Sunday. According to AVFR spokesperson Robert Parlett, the fire occurred on a vacant piece of land where some structures had burned earlier in the summer. Sunday’s fire burned the rest of what was on that property, Parlett said. The Gloucester Sheriff’s Office has determined the cause of the blaze to likely be arson.
