SUSAN DESMETT PINCINCE

It is with a very heavy heart and immeasurable sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife and mother, Susan Desmett Pincince of Gloucester, on April 8, 2024 at the age of 56.

Born on January 13, 1968, Susan grew up in Hampton, Virginia, graduating from Bethel High School to begin pursuing a career in hairstyling, which changed to working as a Pet Groomer. A passion which truly spoke to her heart, until she picked up work with GE and later Household Finance and HSBC where she excelled as a call center manager. But ultimately, her heart won out and she returned to Pet Grooming.

She later in life met the love of her life, Michael Pincince, while he was serving in the Air Force with the Joint Warfighting Center at Suffolk, Va.; after Susan had been previously married to Freddie Hawkins Jr. It should be noted that Mike and Sue were happily together for over 20 years (married for 15), way too short a time period for all the love she had to share.

Not only was she a devoted wife, but she was also the most loving and nurturing mother; a proud grandmother, sister, and friend. Sharing her kindness and love with anyone she touched and all who befriended her.

She had a warm smile and a gentle heart that spoke volumes about who she was and what she cared about; most importantly family, friends and animals, and ohhh were there animals, a multitude of dogs, cats, chickens, horses, a rabbit, and even a snake, frogs and turtles over the years.

As everyone that knew her knew, Susan loved spending time with her family and close friends, especially her children—all 10 of them. She was the “quiet” in any storm, whose devotion, kindness, compassion, and sense of humor will be deeply missed; she was this family’s cornerstone.

Susan is survived by her husband, Michael; her children, Zachary Hawkins, Jessica Hawkins, Mackenzie Hawkins, Jason Pincince, Nicole Pincince and her fiancé Matt Shillings, Christopher Pincince and his wife Krystle, Wesley Pincince, Zachery Pincince, Ethan Pincince, and Aiden Pincince; as well as her grandchildren, Tripp Pincince, Rose Costelloe, Logan Costelloe, Connor Shillings, and Lilly Shillings, and her sister, Kathy Gibbs. We would be remised if we did not also include Zach Moran, a dear family friend to our boys, who was as close to her heart as her own sons, as well as a very dear and special cousin who was more like a sister than a cousin, Lorrie Clark and her husband Rick. Finally, there are countless friends who could be called out, but won’t, for they already truly know of their place in her and our family’s heart.

The funeral service will be held on Friday afternoon, 12 April 2024, at 3 o’clock at Andrews Funeral Home in Gloucester. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to “Making Strides Youth Ranch, Inc.,” 6204 SR-119, Pembroke, Ga. 31321 (in remembrance of her).

As all know, Susan will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

May you rest in peace, in our Lord’s eternal embrace, our dear wife and mother, free of all your pain and suffering, happily rejoined with your dearly missed dad and mom, Thomas and Jane Desmett.
