Supporting workforce housing

Chesapeake Bank donated $5,000 to the Kingston Housing Initiative this week to support workforce housing efforts in Mathews County. The donation will help fund the renovation of the former Kingston Parish rectory on Main Street, transforming it into two apartments designated for teachers and first responders. It is part of a broader effort to ensure that community members have access to safe, affordable housing close to where they serve. Norman Watters Jr. of Chesapeake Bank Wealth Management, second from left, said, “Strong communities are built through meaningful partnerships, shared purpose, and dedicated service,” and that Chesapeake Bank is “committed to making a positive impact where its employees and customers live and work.” Shown, from left, are Hunt Thompson, Watters, Stan Grice, Bill Stearns, Willie Hubbard, Bill Leary and Josie Thorpe.
