Supervisors to review capital needs Tuesday

The Gloucester Board of Supervisors will find out Tuesday night how much money the county may need to spend on capital needs in the coming fiscal year.

 

Gloucester’s Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) Advisory Committee chair Tom Sawyer is expected to make the committee’s recommendations for FY 2014-2015 during the board’s meeting, which will begin at 7 o’clock in the colonial courthouse.

 

Finding the money for the projects may prove to be difficult, especially as it was a consensus of the board during its Jan. 7 meeting for county administrator Brenda Garton to develop the 2014-2015 budget under the assumption that there will be no tax increases and no additional borrowings.

 

Garton said forming the next fiscal year’s budget will be one of the biggest challenges the county faces going into 2014. The budget will also be impacted by state and federal funding sources that are expected to shift and reduce. The county is also expect...
