Supervisors to meet Tuesday

The Mathews County Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the historic courthouse on Court Street on a proposed budget amendment to include funding from the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program in the amount of $2,025,235.

Mathews County Administrator Mindy Moran said a public hearing is required because the amount of the grant exceeds one percent of the total expenditures in the currently adopted budget. The funds would help pay to elevate structures above flood level in various areas of the county.

Supervisors are also expected to consider text amendments to the zoning ordinance regarding aquaculture. The changes were recommended by the planning commission following a public hearing on Tuesday. ...
