The Mathews County Board of Supervisors will have its organizational meeting at 1 p.m. next Wednesday, Jan. 2, in the historic courtroom on Court Street.

Agenda items include election of the chair and vice chair, appointment of the clerk and deputy clerk, appointments to various boards and commissions, and schedules for meetings and holidays for the upcoming year.

Reimbursement rates for mileage will be established. The new standard mileage rate set by the Internal Revenue Service for business miles driven is 56.5 cents per mile.

The board will also review its bylaws and read and adopt its Code of Ethics. Finally, attendance at VACo events will be discussed.
